What is 358 prison weld-mesh?

358 prison mesh is designed to be extremely difficult to climb, as the mesh gaps are so small that trying to gain purchase is almost impossible.

This means that most people simply cannot climb this mesh, making it perfect for very secure sites, like prisons, or extremely exclusive events.

The 6mm thickness of the mesh also makes cutting the fence very difficult – stopping people from being able to simply cut their way through.

This increased thickness does not obscure visibility, however, meaning security staff can still actively observe what is happening on the other side of the fence, catching any problems before they have the chance to develop.

Is there a way to make secure fencing more of a deterrent?

Although extremely effective in its own right, POLMIL® fencing comes with multiple options designed to limit or completely deter unauthorised access, including:

POLMIL® bolt-on T-bracket for razor wire

If your site is surrounded by low structures that could help trespassers to climb your fencing, consider the ultimate deterrent.

Long used in perimeter fencing, razor wire can be installed onto the POLMIL® fencing using bespoke T-brackets – giving a very visual reminder that your site is not suitable for looting.

POLMIL® anti-tunnel mesh

If you have a problem with trespassers digging under fencing to gain access, consider installing anti-tunnel mesh.

Filling in the gap between the ballast footprints, anyone looking to trespass would have to tunnel much further down to gain access – putting most people off.

POLMIL® needle top climbing deterrent

For sites that may be susceptible to unauthorised access because of climbing, consider our needle top fixing.

With 195mm “spikes” cut at 45 degrees, the needle top fixing can be added retrospectively and makes it very unlikely that intruders can pass over the top.

POLMIL® cover mesh

To make the 358 prison mesh even more effective, you could consider installing mesh sheets over the gaps in individual panels – creating a seamless level of security.

This can stop intruders from trying to gain access through the gaps in the panels, which could be more vulnerable than anywhere else on the panel.

Is POLMIL® fencing easy to install?

Being so secure, you could be forgiven for thinking that POLMIL® fencing is difficult and time-consuming to install.

However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Just like other on-ground fencing systems, POLMIL® fencing can be erected without needing to dig channels, which makes installation much faster.

Just plan the location, place the Kentledge Ballast blocks or WaterBlok™ tanks in place and follow up with the POLMIL® fencing panels.

POLMIL® fencing also benefits from being simple to relocate – simply take the fencing down and move it to wherever you need it.
